Rugby brings people together to form relationships that create lasting community. For that reason New Zealand Rugby has initiated Hīkina, a program to harness the power of our rugby community to protect and safeguard people and whānau. Hīkina is about how we uplift our game to better serve the wellbeing of people, helping to fulfil our long-term strategy of Mauri Tū, Māuri Ora - Thriving People, Thriving Game.
Hīkina is a program of work at a community level to develop solutions that protect and safeguard our rising generation of players. Through uplifting the mana of whānau to shape strength-based solutions, creating safe and supportive environments for players to discover who they are, develop their capabilities and establish healthy futures.
We want to unify our community, developing our shared understanding and capability to help people and our rugby community to thrive.
Together we stand together to keep our tamariki safe and work together to eradicate violence and harm in our homes and communities.
